This contract was to manage the 4 yearly SOTW lifestyle survey which involved an assessment of people’s behaviours in terms of alcohol consumption, smoking, exercise and fruit and vegetable intakes in addition to wellbeing and some questions lifted from the site specific lung and bowel cancer measures.
Public Knowledge undertook 4,500 telephone interviews in Sunderland in addition to the management and processing of hard copy questionnaires from hard to reach groups and all data processing. Perspective undertook the remaining 5,500 telephone interviews in Gateshead and South Tyneside. Experian were responsible for the supply of the contact databases and analysis of postcode data according to variables such as Ward, Mosaic code and Super Output Area.
The whole of this large scale collaborative venture was completed successfully within 8 weeks including full data processing and the supply of raw data files allowing NHS SOTW to undertake an in depth analysis of the lifestyles of a 2% sample of the population they serve.
