A Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) methodology was identified as being most suitable to collect data from a business sample and Public Knowledge sourced the contact data for North East SME’s (defined as companies employing less than 250 employees) from a reputable data supplier.
The 15-20 minute survey was designed to assess the opinions of both businesses that do and don’t currently employ graduates and a small pilot sample was undertaken to ensure there were no issues with the survey routing and question clarity.
A sample of 360 interviews was conducted in total and quotas were implemented to ensure a spread of businesses according to location, sector and size of the business.
All of the data was processed by Public Knowledge in-house as part of a larger project to explore businesses opinions of graduate placements being conducted by our partner New Skills Consulting.
