County Durham and Darlington Community Health Services: Patient Satisfaction Survey

Public Knowledge was commissioned by County Durham and Darlington Community Health Services to manage a project assessing the views and opinions of prisoners in the four County Durham and Darlington prisons with regard to the NHS healthcare services received internally.

A self-completion methodology was selected as the most appropriate means of collecting data from a prison population. The 5-7 minute survey was distributed to 1000 prisoners from which we obtained a 33% response rate.

This project was a pilot for an evaluation of 24 NHS services across County Durham and Darlington undertaken during the spring of 2010. Around 30,000 questionnaires, which differed according to each of the 24 services, were distributed by County Durham and Darlington Health Services.

Completed surveys were returned to Public Knowledge in batches, followed by data input, processing and the production of data tables for each service, in addition to one set of merged tables, allowing comparison between services.
